Pesta Sukan Swimming 2023 Summary

What an exhilarating few days it has been at Pesta Sukan! The swimming competition kicked off with a bang, and our young swimmers have truly shown their determination and perseverance in the pool. Here’s a recap of the highlights:

Day 1:

We had a fantastic start with all 5 kids participating in the 50m freestyle event. It was an exciting experience for Xander, Antara, and Ernest, as they competed for the first time at the OCBC Aquatic Centre. The depth of the water and the warm temperature added to the challenge, but our kids handled it like pros!

Day 2:

Ernest and Antara gave it their all in the 50m fly event. Antara swam her fastest fly ever, clocking in at an impressive 55.93 seconds. Bilis faced some difficulties in the 100m breaststroke, but he made up for it with a remarkable 2nd place finish in his heat, achieving another personal best of 1:47:73. Antara continued to shine, achieving another PB in the 100m freestyle with a time of 1:38.

Day 3:

It was a mixed day for our swimmers, as we encountered a few setbacks. Antara had a phenomenal performance in the 50m backstroke, setting a personal best of 50:58. Unfortunately, she turned over to the front while touching the wall, resulting in a disqualification. Jerome, on the other hand, achieved a PB in the 50m backstroke, while Xander’s fastest 50m breaststroke was nullified due to a technicality. However, they took these experiences as valuable lessons and are determined to improve.

Special Mentions:

In the 200m freestyle event, Antara and Jerome both smashed their previous personal bests. Antara achieved an impressive time of 3:44, shaving off 4 seconds from her previous record. Jerome, not to be outdone, achieved a remarkable time of 3:26:57, cutting 9 seconds off his previous PB. Kudos to Coach Tang as well, who clocked a personal best of 3:18:42 in the 200m freestyle despite minimal training.

We are proud of our swimmers and their accomplishments so far. They have not only demonstrated their skills but also made new friends along the way. Shoutout to Coach Richard’s son for joining us on this journey!

Let’s continue to support and cheer for our amazing swimmers as they push themselves to reach new heights in the upcoming days of the competition! 🥇👏
