Making Waves: Our Team’s First Overseas Swim Meet Success

This overseas swim meet was the first for most of our team, and what an exciting experience it has been!

Let’s celebrate some amazing achievements:

Amelia shone brightly with her performances in the 25m and 50m butterfly, posting times of 21:41 and 53:53, showcasing an incredible improvement of 8:47! It’s worth noting that she learned butterfly just 5 months ago! She also set a personal best in the 25m breaststroke with a time of 26:53 and ranked in the top 10 in 3 out of the 7 events she entered.

Daniel impressed us all with a strong performance in the 25m backstroke, achieving a time of 21:36 and finishing in 8th place. He also broke his personal best in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:54:05, walking away with 3 PBs out of 4 events!

Joy, the youngest member of our team, showed remarkable potential in her butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle. She achieved personal bests in all her events, finishing 4th in the 100m breaststroke and making top 10 appearances in both the 25m fly and 100m breaststroke!

Bilis and Clare both brought home podium finishes! Bilis earned a silver in the 25m breaststroke with a fantastic time of 18:60, while Clare secured a bronze with a time of 23:31, making top 10 in 7 out of 8 events!

Clare’s resilience deserves special recognition. She pushed through illness right before the meet, and although she faced challenges during her 100m breaststroke, she learned valuable lessons from the experience. With the support of her teammates, she worked hard to improve her strokes and nailed a bronze in the 25m event, showcasing her determination!

Bilis returned to AOSI this year with a strong determination to medal after last year’s experience. He had high hopes for the 200m breaststroke and 25m butterfly, achieving 17:40 in the latter. Even though he hoped for a medal in the 100m breaststroke, he finished with a personal best of 1:37:93 and 6th place overall. His fantastic effort earned him a time of 18:60 in the 25m event, placing him 2nd in his age group and just 0.06 seconds shy of gold. With personal bests in all 5 events he swam, he truly had a successful meet!

Overall, this event has been a wonderful experience, growing from a 2-person team last year to 5 this year. We’ve had so much fun together, and with one day of rest before heading home, we created lasting memories during this school holiday.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents for their incredible support in making this trip both successful and unforgettable!
