Thinking of signing your child up for a swim meet, but not sure if he/she is ready?

“My kid only goes swimming once a week, he will sure not stand a chance!”

To many coaches and parents, swim competitions can be pretty overwhelming, especially the very first one. We always stress about it being a major moment for our kids.

Above all, what we want is for the kids to enjoy and learn through the process of working towards a goal, and be rewarded for it. And at this swim meet, regardless of where you are at in your swim journey, we try to create that opportunity for everyone to win!

“You mean a level playing field for all swimmers?”

Yes! The Fishlike Swim School Championships is a unique swim meet in Singapore that caters to swimmers of all levels. We have four divisions – Beginners, Intermediate, Advance, and Squad – where children are grouped based on their personal best times.

Besides medals and trophies, we also have a designated point system where participants get to be rewarded differently for their efforts! Representing and earning points for their swim school, vying for the podium; this championship will definitely unleash their fullest potential and push swimmers past their limits!

How are swimmers allocated to the events?

  • To ensure swimmers are challenged in accordance with their swimming abilities, we will be grouping them into four main divisions:
    • Beginner
    • Intermediate
    • Advance
    • Squad

This will be determined by their seed time (personal best time)

Examples

  1. Sarah is 6 years old, and she would like to compete in the 25m freestyle event. Her seed time is 30 secs. As she did not qualify for the timing stated to enter the Squad division race event (25.48 seconds), she will thus be competing in the Advanced division for the 5-7 years old age group.
  2. Oliver is 6 years old, and he would like to compete in the 25m freestyle event. His seed time is 50 secs, and so he will be competing in the intermediate division for the 5-7 years old age group.
