Private Swimming Lessons
At Fishlike, we are committed to helping you learn to swim in the way that’s best for you. We know that every swimmer is different, with their own unique swimming background, body type, goals and learning style. That’s why we offer private lessons, at either a 1:1 or 1:2 coach-to-student ratio.
We believe there are 4 key benefits to taking private lessons:
Get 100% of Coach’s Attention:
While our class sizes are generally small, in a private session it’s just you and your coach (or in a 1-2 class, you, a friend and your coach). This means the coach can focus exclusively on you, without needing to attend to others at the same time. It also gives you the chance to ask more questions, repeat material as you need to and generally take advantage of your coach’s expertise in a way that best serves your learning process.
Customized
Curriculum
In a private session, your coach can tailor what they teach to exactly what you need. Our coaches are trained to customize private sessions in order to solve precisely the problems you’re facing and teach you exactly what you need to know to improve your swim. We also provide you with individualized training plans so that you can practice on your own between and after sessions.
Flexible Timing
and Location:
If you’re got a demanding schedule, or can’t make our group sessions for any reason, private sessions could be the solution for you. Since you’re the only student, there’s more flexibility in scheduling a time slot that works for you. Also if you have access to your own pool, private sessions can be an ideal way to have your lessons conveniently at your doorstep.
Progress at Your Own Pace:
In a group program, there is a fixed curriculum and a time frame within which to achieve a preset goal. With private lessons, there are no such requirements. Whether you learn fast or slow, the lessons are catered to your needs, so you can progress at your own pace. You might end up spending more time on your areas of improvement, and less where you are already proficient. All in all, this takes away the pressure and allows you to focus on learning.
In our experience, there are some students who are more suited to taking private lessons, and who end up getting the most of out them. For example, if you are…
- preparing for a race or an event on a very short timeline
- from overseas or have a busy travelling schedule
- keen to do lessons more than once a week
- wanting to learn specific skills, like to qualify for naval diver selection
- afraid of the water and need some extra support
- a slow learner, or like to go at your own pace
- an advanced swimmer or a fast learner, who may get bored in a group class
- someone with mobility or learning issues, or other special needs then you may want to consider going for private lessons.
If you’d like to find out more or are still unsure about whether private lessons would be right for you, reach out to us via phone or email for a consultation—we’d love to hear from you!
