Developed in 1983 by M. Ellen (Melon) Dash, Miracle Swimming is a new system of swim coaching that guarantees that adults who are not comfortable in water over their heads or who are afraid in water will overcome their fear and learn to swim.
The Miracle Swimming system is based on comfort at all times, progressing at your own pace and the 5 Circles Teaching System.
We have structured the Miracle Swimming classes to be a two-part course, with different focus on water comfort at different depths, confidence even when you are submerged while progressing at your own comfortable pace – all with the purpose of helping you overcome your fear of water.
When students achieve their initial freedom in shallow water in the Beginning program, they can then move on to Next Step which then challenges them to master their fear of deeper water and gain confidence in it.
In the 8-week Beginning program, you will learn how to:
be comfortable with your face submerged in water
relax using the jellyfish float and mushroom float
transit from floating to standing up
move around comfortably in shallow water
In the 8-week Next Step program, you will learn how to:
feel at ease in deep water
acquire water survival skills such as managing cramps
swim 50m in open water
swim 200m breast stroke in deep water
